Greetings from Sequoia Meadows Christian Camp! Here is my after summer and current life update!
Life
So, you might be wondering why I chose the name for this update that I did; and it is because it actually sums up the very ways that I grew or that the Lord showed me where I needed to grow more over this past summer. So the name of this post is actually part of a quote made by Ken Collier, and the full quote is: “Just two choices on the shelf, pleasing God or pleasing self.” Although I am not proud of it, I tend to be a people pleaser, and many times this past summer it came down to either doing what I wanted or doing what pleased God. Not only did God teach me in that way; but he also worked in my heart about loving others. And I know I did not make the right choice every single time for either of these challenges, but I am so thankful for the work that God has done in my life to help me see the changes that need to be made!

As for other parts of the summer, Montana and I got to go visit a cave with two of our other summer staff! It was really cool even though it took longer than expected to get there. When we researched the cave, it said it would be about a 2.5 mile hike, but……it ended up being about 3 to 3.5 miles one way! It was super pretty on the way though! While our summer staff were still here, we also got to go to natural waterslide! Yep! You read that right; it was a waterslide here in the mountains that was made out of smooth rock! And most recently, during the first week of September, a group of us got to go on a hike to a peak nearby, which was definitely an adventure! Well, besides going on hikes, and to waterslides, Montana and I are chipping away at wedding planning! Our wedding is less than 80 days away now!
Work

From the work sided of things, they have been going well! Over the summer, I got to do a lot of things for the first time and that was challenging, but it also caused me to see many ways that I want to improve next year when I come back! It was very busy with our first ever 5 camps up here with our biggest one being around 100 people! Towards the end of summer camps slowed down but the projects around camp have definitely not slowed down at all! But not having as many camps has given me the chance to help with some of those projects! Around the end of July, I got to help put metal on a roof, which was so much fun! More recently I’ve been learning some new skills; like mudding drywall, putting drywall up, flooring, and little bits of wiring! We had our final retreat of the year this month and now we will just work on projects until we head down the mountain by October 10th! Then I will continue working down at Ironwood until next April or May!
That’s all for now, thanks for reading! Happy Fall Everyone!!
